FAQs

What days do your sessions run?
Woodland Playgroup is every Tuesday and Thursday, morning and afternoon sessions; and every Saturday morning. Story trails vary week by week, please view the timetable on the Facebook page or the ‘Book a session’ tab
http://forest-friends.co.uk/?page_id=48

What about Coronavirus?
Forest Friends will be delivering small group sessions inline with the government guidance for outdoor recreation and parent & toddler groups.
Sessions are able to run in all tiers including tier 4 as Parent & Toddler groups are exempt. However, if schools are forced to close, then Forest Friends sessions will close too and sessions will be rearranged.

Please contact if you would like to view the coronavirus policy.

Where are your sessions based?
Due to coronavirus, sessions are only being held at Woodfield Park, Balby for the time being. In the near future I will be at Bentley Community Woodland again.

From 2021 I will also be based at:
Squirrel Wood, Burghwallis,
Thorne Community Woodland,
and Hatfield Moors.

Do you offer discounted places for siblings?
YES! Siblings are half price but only for Woodland Playgroup Blocks.

Do you offer childminder discounts?
YES! I offer buy 2 get 3rd free for storybook trails and woodland playgroup sessions.

Do adults have to pay for a place?
Yes, for storybook trails as I have to keep track of numbers attending to ensure social distancing can be adhered to during sessions.

For woodland playgroup block bookings, the payment is per child only. However, only one adult per booking is admitted for the time being due to coronavirus and limited numbers.

Do you provide private sessions?
Yes I do, but unfortunately due to coronavirus this is only available to household, childminder, nursery and school bubbles. Please see the ‘Book a Party or Private Session’ tab. http://forest-friends.co.uk/?page_id=12

Is there a toilet on site?
No, due to the short sessions this has never been an issue. If children are desperate they can have a ‘wild wee’ in a location far from the group activities.

What should I wear?
You should dress yourself and your child in suitable outdoor, old clothing depending on the weather. Even on a hot summers day, it can be chilly under the tree canopy. Long sleeves and trousers are recommended for scrapes and nettles. Warm hat, scarf, gloves, wellies and welly socks are reccommended during winter. Layers are also advised.

What if it’s raining?
Sessions will still take place in the rain. Sessions will be cancelled if high winds, thunderstorms, lightning or severe weather warnings are issued. If a session is cancelled I will try to rearrange or you will be offered a place in lieu at one of the storybook trails.

Can I cancel my session?
Yes, although no refunds will be given.

Do you provide birthday parties?
Yes, although due to coronavirus these are unavailable at this time unless it is provided for a household bubble.

Is there parking on site?
Yes, once your place is booked, parking details will be sent with your booking confirmation.

What ages do you accept?
My sessions are recommended for under 7s. Pre-walking babies are free as long as they are kept in a sling or pushchair close with you at all times.

Do I have to stay with my child?
Yes, Forest Friends is a stay and play woodland playgroup and story trails.

What type of activities do you provide?
A wide range of outdoor activities such as mud kitchen, hammock, rope swings, dens, crafts and bug hunting.
